Psychedelics and the Counterculture of Aging
At long last...
This book has been four years in the making. It has had many iterations, changes of directions, and moments of sublime inspiration. Most of all, it has given meaning, purpose, empowerment and joy to my own elderhood.
Today, the official launch day of my book, I contemplate the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Writing a book is a solitary affair - even if this project was so rich in encounters with like-minded others. This new chapter is much more outward-facing.
Over the course of my writing and conversations, a clear vision has emerged in my mind and spirit - of an emerging movement of conscious elders who are committed to the values of connection, love, kindness, mutual support and healing the world. Who are sickened by the values and discourse dominating our culture. And who are ready to bring their energy and resources to support a counterculture of change.
I hope to use my voice and synergize with others who can help catalyze this movement.
I’m starting this new chapter close to home, in DC and Baltimore, before moving to the Pacific Northwest and Bay Area. And I’ll update on my travels here in these posts.
Connection, Community, Shared Wellbeing. These are the values that will exert their pull onto the pendulum as it swings back towards the light.

Abbie, thanks for addressing the most over-looked demographic in the psychedelic space. The potential benefits to seniors are immense.
Congratulations! This is a huge accomplishment and medicine for the world. Celebrating you!!
